JoLea Lamot  - Assaulted by Police

Police in New York severely mistreated a transgender woman in need of emergency medical treatment.  Nancy Lamot called 911 because she was concerned that her transgender daughter JoLea might be having an allergic reaction to some medication. Lamot had accidentally referred to JoLea as her “son” in the call. Rescue workers and police both responded to the call. When police discovered JoLea was living as a female, they began harassing her, calling her “it” and “trans-testicle.” They beat her, sprayed her and her mother and a neighbor with pepper spray, handcuffed her and forced her to stay in a psychiatric hospital overnight. Both the mother and neighbor were also arrested and charged with assault.
