Close WindowWe are
reaching out to you for your vital assistance in this most important and
time critical request. This legislative session, starting in February,
the CT Hate Crime Network will be raising a Hate Crime Bill to include
"Gender Identity or Expression" [as well as Disability] within the
current CT Hate Crime Statutes. A difficult, though critically
important part of this process, is to gather stories supporting the need
for such legislation. These Connecticut stories are ones which tell of
the many known acts of verbal and/or physical abuse that are inflicted
upon a person [or their property] simply for expressing their Gender
Identity or Expression outside the so-called societal norms. These
stories occur not only to the Transgender and Transsexual person in
Connecticut, but to anyone, independent of their sexual orientation who
does not conform to the stereotypical boundaries of masculine/feminine.
We all have heard these stories and now it is important for us to
collect these stories and present them to the Legislators -- as an
important part of our efforts to secure this legislation! These
stories can be submitted anonymously or with the persons name and town
if possible. Additionally, if you would like to testify before the
Judiciary committee this session, indicate that in your story or contact
us directly. Stories may
be submitted by email to hatecrimes@transadvocacy.com or mailed to CTAC,
PO Box 330304, West Hartford, CT 06133-0304. You may also contact CTAC
directly at (860) 680-9952 if you have any questions or would like to
discuss further. Also visit

effort. Thank you, Jerimarie Liesegang Member Organization of the CT
